Sri lanka rupee to usd4/20/2023 Similarly, Haiti uses the US dollar alongside its domestic currency the gourde, and Cambodia used it alongside the Cambodian Riel for many official transactions. It is interesting to note here that following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, in southern Kherson region the ruble is being used alongside the Ukrainian hryvnia. While University of Colombo Faculty of Arts Department of Economics Senior Lecturer and Attorney-at-Law Shanuka Senarath said that if Sri Lanka were to substitute the LKR with the INR or any other foreign currency, it would probably mean that part of Sri Lanka’s national sovereignty would no longer be in its control. However, she said that is not case with Sri Lanka.Įconomist and Frontier Research (Pvt) Ltd Product Head – Macroeconomic and Thematic Research - Chayu Damsinghe told The Sunday Morning that the partial substitution may not change 'anything much'. Perera said, Bhutan and Nepal are using INR mainly because most of the goods in their respective countries come from India and therefore it makes sense to pay for these products in INR because they had already been priced in INR terms. However, former director of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and Advocata Institute Senior Visiting Fellow Roshan Perera stated that she did not think that it was possible to use the INR in parallel to the LKR in Sri Lanka if the substitution was to take place in a few selected sectors, it reported. Further, with a foreign currency, the economy is unlikely to face a balance of payments crisis when speculators take flight and sell domestic currency. ![]() The currency swap has the potential to draw foreign investors who will be attracted by the stability of a substitute currency and show greater willingness to be paid in INR rather than the domestic currency LKR, which might be subject to losses on foreign exchange markets. The comes when Nandalal Weerasinghe, the Governor of Sri Lanka's Central Bank on Sunday, said that the country's economy is likely to contract by over six per cent this year - worse than in the pandemic-affected 2020, when the economy shrank 3.5 per cent. Speculations are rife that the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR) will be substituted with the INR in certain segments of the economy, according to Sri Lankan news agency The Sunday Morning. But this decision has also gained in significance in the backdrop of the recent economic upheaval in neighbouring Sri Lanka - currently, one Sri Lankan rupee equals 0.22 Indian rupee. "In order to promote growth of global trade with emphasis on exports from India and to support the increasing interest of global trading community in INR, it has been decided to put in place an additional arrangement for invoicing, payment, and settlement of exports / imports in INR," it said.įor settlement of trade transactions, the concerned banks will require Special Rupee Vostro accounts of correspondent bank/s of the partner trading country.Īccording a report by The Hindu, the RBI’s move would facilitate trade with countries under sanction like Iran and Russia. Then I configured Photos.app to store a full local copy of my library. Since my MacBook is usually closed / not plugged in and doesn’t have a full copy of my photo library, I bought a used Mac Mini and hooked it up to an external 2 TB drive. Ok so this is by far the easiest way of doing it, but it does require you have a desktop Mac or a MacBook thatĪ) has a full copy of your photos libraryī) Is awake and connected to your network at regular intervals to run the backup It sort of worked, but quickly felt like more hassle than it was worth. In hindsight, I’m not sure what I was expecting: the cheap miniPC was temperamental, Windows never stopped updating and Apple iCloud for Windows seemed… well not their main focus, lets put it that way. The next option I tested was using a cheap miniPC running Windows 10 and Apple’s iCloud software to copy the files onto the mounted Synology drive. There are a few command line scripts that can talk directly to your iCloud account, but they all looked a bit fragile – I want a setup that is going to work reliably and doesn’t require maintenance. Options consideredįirst I looked into ways to get the Synology to pull my photos down directly. Well it basically boils down to wanting an independent backup: what if I lose access to my iCloud account? Or Apple loses my data somehow? Both unlikely, but it can happen. So since I’m already paying Apple, why would I want another backup? ![]() I already have a Synology NAS for other backups and as a general storage system, so I wanted to find a way for it to always have an up-to-date copy of my Library. It’s super convenient to have all my photos everywhere at all times (what’s the point in taking them if you can’t enjoy them?), but I did want to find a way to have a secondary backup solution that doesn’t rely on Photos or iCloud. My library was just over 1TB at the time, so I’ve been paying for the 2TB plan ever since (I’ve been collecting photos in my library since 2001 and while it could definitely use a bit of trimming, I don’t think there’s much I want to get rid of). A few years ago, I decided to go all-in with iCloud Photos. I have two QNAP NAS (TS-420 & TS-421), both are 4-bays and are at the end of life for firmware updates, software updates, etc. Hello, I wanted to see what thoughts were on end of life NAS's on home networks, please see below.

Kingdom tales forum4/20/2023 ![]() I don't know how they'd do that, since they are embedded in the book after each chapter. I haven't bought ECC yet, but is it possible, when I do, to get those discussion questions from MFW separately from the book, since I really already have the book, albeit in a different format? The kids love them, but now I realize that MFW republished them in a single volume with their added discussion questions, which we are missing out on. I bought the 3 books last year from Lamplighter at the h/s bookfair, and we are reading them aloud. Tawbur wrote:I'm planning on using ECC this Fall and noticed the book Kingdom Tales. Where are the discussion questions-I mean am I able to have access to them somehow, or am I out of luck since I don't have the newer manual? (always planning ahead) HappyWImom wrote:We are planning on using ECC next year, but I have an older TM. He said, “Absolutely not!” He said that KT is a deliberate allegory of Christ whereas the others you have to try to read into them. I just asked my husband if he would put KT in the same category as these two. I definitely don’t place it in the same bracket as Lord of the Rings and Narnia. It’s added so much to our schooling- and it’s a time we all look forward to. You know your children best so it’s not my place to tell you whether or not to use this book. I must say that this book has also touched my husband and myself. In fact we have loved these times together as a family so much (we read them at night with dad) that on days it is not scheduled, even though we do other read alouds together, my daughter asks for it. Each Chapter ends with a ‘nugget of truth’ and what amazed me was how much of that my daughter was able to internalize and share her own insight at her level. Not only did she understand the spiritual connection but it led us to some wonderful family discussions. But then I wondered whether or not my daughter would “get it”. I kept thinking, “I know there must be a purpose to this” and at the end I understood. I was new to MFW and I thought, “Okaaay, not sure if the Hazell’s are off their rocker in choosing this book…” So I decided to read the first one (the one that had the warning) alone. I was a bit concerned when I first looked at it. We do not do Lord of the Rings or Narnia (well I should say my husband likes Narnia and I don’t but we are both in agreement on Lord of the Rings.) I have heard the question, "Is 'Kingdom Tales' like 'Lord of the Rings' or 'Narnia'?" My answer to that is no. I thought I would share a review of Kingdom Tales from my own personal experience: We are new to MFW and just started ECC a couple of mths ago. I was going to wait until after July 4th to start ECC, but I think we may have to start on Monday or else I'm going to be behind! (Hubby just finished God Speaks Numanggang.) And she hasn't even finished the book yet! She says it's "indescribable," but it sure sounds like she's doing an awful lot of "describing" to me! She's standing here going on and on about it. This girl is an AVID reader and has read MANY, many books in every genre. She says it just HAS to be the best book ever written besides the Bible! In my dd's estimation, Kingdom Tales beats Nancy Drew, horse books, Narnia (yes, Narnia! ), Dangerous Journey, Pilgrim's Progress, and anything else she's ever read. and at this point she believes she could read this book over again every single day for the rest of her life and wouldn't get tired of it. She describes it as "Christian fairy tales". "You actually feel like you're there and you know what's going on." so tragic and wonderful and magical, but so real!" "There's so much detail in just a few pages of each story. "better than any horse book I've ever read" Here's a bit of what Kayla says about it: This is 3 books bound together in one volume, with questions added at the end of each chapter by MFW. Okay, we just had Box Day (ECC 2nd edition) this afternoon, and my 13yo has already read about half of Kingdom Tales.

Slay the spire tips4/20/2023 ![]() This is deck-building 101, but it’s easy for me to fall into this bad habit when I first start playing games like this. It turns out that the more cards I have, the less likely I am to draw my more essential cards. Mega Crit GamesĪs I got further into the game, I was eager to make use of all the new cards I earned along the way. With so many cards to choose from, it can be overwhelming at first. In my naïveté, I kept grabbing cards to add all four types to my deck, unaware that they really don’t mix well at all. For instance, the Defect can cast four different types of orbs to power itself up. Since there’s no limit, I just kept adding cards that seemed interesting. One of the first mistakes I made was adding too many cards to my deck. But after failing repeatedly, I knew I needed to take a different approach. I assumed each class had a fairly straightforward approach to deck-building: The soldierlike Ironclad is a high-damage fighter, the Silent is a poison-chucking rogue, and the Defect is a robot that casts magical orbs. This isn’t uncommon in roguelites, and while I was having fun, I still felt like I must be missing something, since I was struggling so much. But even after a few hours, I was constantly losing and not making much progress. I thought I had a grasp of all of this at first I’m used to playing both card games and roguelikes, after all. These cards can unlock new, specific skills, and allow me to build diverse styles of decks using the generic cards as a foundation. ![]() But every time I take down a foe, I get the option to add one of three new cards to my deck, drawn from the large pool of possible cards available to each character. Īt the start of each playthrough, all I have is a generic deck, filled with basic attack cards, defense cards, and some skills. If you want to see the very best of the best for your platform(s) of choice, check out Polygon Essentials. When we award a game the Polygon Recommends badge, it’s because we believe the title is uniquely thought-provoking, entertaining, inventive, or fun - and worth fitting into your schedule. Polygon Recommends is our way of endorsing our favorite games. Each character has their own set of cards, making their play styles radically different. These cards allow me to attack, defend, cast spells, or use special abilities. Combat is similar to that of a turn-based RPG, but instead of selecting attacks and spells from a menu, I draw cards from each character’s specific pool of cards. In Slay the Spire, I play as one of three unique characters, in order to fight my way through a randomly generated map filled with battles, treasure chests, and RPG-like encounters. However, after 10 hours, I learned that mastering Slay the Spire doesn’t come through learning the game’s systems, but rather by dismantling my assumptions about how it all works. When I started playing Slay the Spire, a deck-building roguelite now available on Windows PC, I assumed the game would follow the same sort of progression. Victories are few and far between, and the fun is found in the struggle to adapt to an ever-changing game. Overcoming the odds and learning from constant failure are at the heart of roguelite games.

![]() Why is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive so popular? However, like the original games, Global Offensive leaves very little room for character modification, which means you’re stuck with the skill and gear with which you started playing. Stark differences are only noticeable in the graphics, characters, mods, and weapons offered by CS: GO. In addition to all this, Counter-Strike Global Offensive download for Windows builds a lot upon the original game, which means you’ll notice several similarities. These objectives require you to fight enemies, defuse bombs, and rescue hostages. The gameplay is simple players have to complete different objectives to level up. Friends playing together can create an enhanced strategy to defeat the other teams. Since players can't respawn the moment they die, it gives players a tactical advantage. Owing to this, there’s always a sense of mystery involved since you don’t know how the player next to you will react. In addition to this, all the players you play with and against are real people vs AIs. It is realistic in the sense that once your character dies off, you must wait for the round to be completed to use a saved life. What is the gameplay of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive?Ĭreated by Valve Corporation, Counter-Strike Global Offensive has action gameplay like no other. In addition to this, the game includes original game mods, lobby, and board leaders. ![]() The game is the fourth installment in the popular Counter-Strike franchise and offers new characters, weapons, mods, and maps. ![]() The peak concurrent player count for CS:GO has hit a yearly high over the past few days after the title went free to play, and that benefits both the developer and the fans, who will see renewed interest in a game that had been wavering slightly with so many new competitors emerging over the past couple of years.Counter-Strike Global Offensive or CS: GO is a popular first-person shooter game where players create teams to fight off enemies. Those who feel like they've been slighted by the platform certainly have a right to feel that way, but it seems unlikely anything more than a new exclusive skin for pre-existing players will come out of this, and that's probably going to be okay for everyone involved. Games going free to play later in their life cycle is nothing new, and it's rare for fans to be given a refund for what they paid, especially given how long CS:GO has existed already. Rather, many of the game's more dedicated players feel cheated over having paid for the game prior, and are demanding exclusive weapons, skins or a refund for the amount they paid to purchase the game. Interestingly, the introduction of a battle royale mode - a clear marketing grab at some of the Fortnite demographic - isn't the point of contention for most fans, who seem genuinely interested in the new Danger Zone mode. CS:GO also has one of the more passionate communities regarding its competitive play, which has existed for much longer than many other esports and is considered an innovator that paved the way for future titles within the esports scene. The game previously cost money to purchase up-front and has its own marketplace on Steam that sells weapons, skins, and more, meaning that those who played CS:GO prior to the change have likely sunk in a fair bit of money if they played with any semblance of consistency. The decision to make CS:GO free wasn't made with a lot of forewarning for players, creating a sense of resentment within the game's existing playerbase that has carried over onto its Steam review page.ĬS:GO is one of the most popular games in the world, and is frequently among the most played concurrently on Steam according to the platform's stats tracking systems. Counter Strike: Global Offensive is in some trouble after the game suddenly went free to play this month, prompting a negative response from many of the title's most invested players. |
